About the Opportunity

The Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters Foundation (OFAH Foundation) is offering an exciting 8-month OFAH/BrokerLink Conservation Intern position for a recent graduate who wants hands-on experience in fish and wildlife conservation, policy, and education.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will work across OFAH’s conservation, policy, and education teams. Typical activities include:

Field & Conservation Work:

  • Assisting with fish stocking, habitat restoration, monitoring, and assessment
  • Supporting invasive species monitoring and treatment (i.e., water soldier, mystery snails)
  • Participating in stream clean-ups, tree planting, and field surveys
  • Operating and trailering small boats (where trained)


Education & Outreach:


Policy & Research:

  • Conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and online research
  • Assisting with reports, fact sheets, and other policy or conservation materials
  • Supporting biologists and the Director of Policy on research projects

What We’re Looking For

Education:

You are a recent graduate of a post-secondary program in:

  • Biology
  • Ecology
  • Fish & Wildlife
  • Environmental Science
  • Natural Resources Management
  • Or a related field of study


Skills & Experience:

You bring:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including public speaking and report writing)
  • Good organization, time management, and multi-tasking abilities
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team


Assets (nice to have):

  • Fish and wildlife fieldwork or habitat restoration experience
  • Public engagement, outreach, or youth programming experience
  • Small boat operation and trailering
  • GIS, data analysis, programming, or graphic design (i.e., infographics)
  • Personal interest in hunting, fishing, and conservation

Work Environment & Requirements

This role includes both office and outdoor field work. You should be comfortable with:

  • Working outdoors in all weather (heat, cold, rain, snow)
  • Some evening and weekend work
  • Travel across Ontario
  • Lifting 50–90 lbs with assistance


You must have or be able to obtain:

  • Valid Class G driver’s licence (Class G2 is not sufficient)
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • Emergency First Aid with Level A CPR & AED (as a minimum)
  • OFAH membership (required at time of hire)
  • Criminal record check (required every three years)


Assets:

  • Fishing licence
  • Outdoors Card with accredited hunter
