A Premier Destination for Hunting and Fishing Heritage, Conservation Education, and Outdoor Adventures
Opened in 2010, the OFAH | Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre (HFHC) and the adjacent Shimano Fish Pond offer exciting educational and recreational experiences for all ages, with a special focus on youth conservation. Recently, the HFHC has expanded to include virtual learning programs for schools across Ontario.
Inside the HFHC, explore captivating displays of Ontario and Canada’s fish and wildlife, enjoy a 70-seat amphitheatre, marvel at a giant tank filled with native fish species, and check out historic lures and fishing tackle. Campers and visiting students can also spend time on the Excalibur Archery Range and Stoeger Airgun Range for some hands-on fun!

Classroom Curriculum
The OFAH | Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre (HFHC) offers curriculum-based educational programs that engage students with hands-on activities aligned with Ontario’s new Science and Technology curriculum, as well as Literacy and Health & Physical Education.
Experience in-person wildlife conservation learning with HFHC’s full-day field trips, interactive activities, and engaging games. Can’t visit? Try our Conservation Crates for in-class excitement that comes to you, check out our library of virtual lessons, or request a live, expert-led session on science and conservation – all accessible to students across Ontario!
PA Days
At the HFHC, we offer exciting PA Day activities for youth ages 6-12, providing an adventurous break from the regular school routine. Our action-packed program is designed to immerse children in the great outdoors, where they can explore nature and try new activities. With the guidance of our qualified staff, kids will engage in hands-on experiences that foster a love for wildlife conservation and outdoor recreation. We ensure your child has a memorable and educational adventure!
Summer Camps
Join us at the HFHC for our thrilling Summer Day Camps, designed for youth ages 6-12. Our week-long action-packed camps offer a unique opportunity for kids to engage in exciting new activities. Led by our qualified staff, campers will enjoy hands-on experiences that promote wildlife conservation and outdoor recreation. Each day is filled with adventure, learning, and fun, ensuring your child has an unforgettable week immersed in nature. Let us provide a safe and enriching environment where kids can make new friends and discover the wonders of the natural world.
Special Facilities
Shimano Fish Pond
The Shimano Fish Pond is a catch-and-release warm water pond right at the HFHC. The pond is easily accessible by wheelchair and provides a memorable and exciting experience for OFAH PA Day and Summer Camp participants, and some school field trips. All equipment is provided by the Heritage Centre.
Amphitheatre
Come in, sit back and relax while learning about wildlife conservation in Ontario, Canada, and across the world in the HFHC’s immersive high-definition amphitheatre!
Excalibur Archery and Stoeger Airgun Ranges
Located in the lower level of the HFHC, these two ranges provide the opportunity for first time or amateur shooters the chance to try these activities and learn the responsibility of safe shooting. All equipment and safety instruction is provided by our trained and certified staff.
Walk-In Visits
The Centre is normally open for walk-in visits Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, but please check in if you plan to visit – the Centre will occasionally be closed for special events.
