Curriculum-Based Education Programming at the OFAH | Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre

The OFAH | Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre (HFHC) offers curriculum-based educational programs that engage students with hands-on activities aligned with Ontario’s new Science and Technology curriculum, as well as Literacy and Health & Physical Education.

Experience in-person wildlife conservation learning with HFHC’s full-day field trips, interactive activities, and engaging games. Can’t visit? Try our Conservation Crates for in-class excitement that comes to you, check out our library of virtual lessons, or request a live, expert-led session on science and conservation – all accessible to students across Ontario!

In-Person Visits and Field Trips

Our full-day programming immerses students in a dynamic learning environment where they can explore the importance of fish, wildlife, and habitat conservation. Throughout the day, students participate in a variety of interactive activities, games, and discussions that meet specific curriculum expectations. These in-person visits are designed to enhance students’ understanding of science and technology concepts while promoting physical activity and literacy skills.

Conservation Crates

Ontario is a huge province, so for schools that can’t make the trip to Peterborough, the HFHC offers Conservation Crates. These are carefully curated educational kits that bring the excitement of our centre directly to your classroom. Each grade-specific crate includes detailed lesson plans, hands-on materials, and activities that align with curriculum standards, allowing teachers to facilitate engaging and informative sessions on conservation and environmental science.

Virtual Lessons

As another alternative for schools across Ontario, the HFHC also provides virtual lessons, making it possible for students across Ontario to benefit from our educational programs. We offer these in two formats:

  1. A large and growing library of videos on specific subjects and targeted at specific grades, backed up with additional resources for teachers; and
  2. live interactive sessions led by our qualified educators and covering a range of topics related to wildlife conservation, science, and technology.

Virtual lessons are an excellent way to bring expert knowledge into your classroom, no matter where you are located!
